Workshop and Winter School in Senegal

The UP team, in collaboration with the NGOs Lecturers Without Borders and HOME – both founded and run by UP students and/or staff – organised an online workshop on November 6th about local solutions to SDGs in 3 academic institutions in Senegal.

The workshop presented examples of participatory approaches to community challenges and the use of the Maker philosophy for frugal innovation. At the end of the workshop, the participants were invited to register for a hands-on winter school, which was held during the first 2 weeks of December at the École Polytechnique de Thiès. A total of 30 students were selected from the over 100 applicants, and their work was presented in a big closing event, open to the community and live streamed for remote attendees, at the end of the winter school.
